Hard Fought Decisions- Both AKA fighters Sean Sherk and Rich "Cleatus" Crunkilton went the distance with their respective opponents at UFC 42. Sean Sherk became the first man since August of 2001 to force Matt Hughes to go the distance. Sean lost the fight via unanimous decision in a hard fought ground and pound war. In what has to be one of the biggest displays of heart the sport has seen since Renzo Gracie vs. Kazushi Sakuraba, Rich Crunkilton suffered a dislocated arm and torn ligaments from two painful submissions. Despite the injury, Crunkilton was able to continue the fight and go the distance. Crunkilton dominated the first round with an assortment of kicks, punches, and throws. As the rounds went on both fighters were visibly tired and the pace slowed. Crunkilton made a fine showing and captured the attention of UFC staff and fans. Crunkilton has undergone surgery for his injury and promises to return to the UFC.
